Cisco VIC-2FXO Overview
Cisco VIC-2FXO module card supports two internal T1/E1 ports. The Router Card supports a single VIC/VWIC slot that can accommodate either a Cisco Voice WAN Interface Card (VWIC) or a Voice Interface Card (VIC).
The Cisco VIC2-2FXO cards are daughter cards installed in network modules, providing user interfaces for PSTN and telephone equipment (PBXs, key systems, fax machines, and telephones). Cisco VWICs also serve as daughter cards, providing interfaces to PBX, PSTN, or WAN.
Cisco’s IP communication solutions offer integration of voice and data, allowing users to access services such as IP telephony, integrated services, and toll bypass. These solutions enable businesses, managed network service providers, and service providers to benefit from the advantages of unified communications, such as reduced operational costs and increased productivity.
Cisco’s unified communications solutions also encompass voice packet technologies, including Voice over IP (VoIP), H.323, Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Voice over Frame Relay, and Voice over ATM, including AAL2 and AAL5 compatibility layers.
Cisco’s high-density digital fax/voice network modules are an integral part of delivering unified communications. These versatile modules provide a combination of digital voice, analog voice, and data capabilities within a single network module. Not only do they serve as IP telephony gateways for Cisco Unified Communications architectures for calls via PSTN and WAN, but they also enable businesses to integrate traditional telephone equipment into their networks until they are ready to transition to IP telephony.
